Not all bamboos have self-supporting stems, a few species are climbers, like those of the genus Dinochloa. Only one species of Dinochloa is kept in cultivation, and is rare. If you have a small or large garden with one or some tall trees and wish to add them an outstanding wild-tropical ornamental feature, then chose a Dinochloa bamboo! The best effect can be gained if planted to a tree that has very small or very large leaves, or light green leaves. Dinochloa leaves are typically small, quite broad, middle to dark green with shiny upper surface, and can provide a good contrast to the tree foliage. Dinochloa stems are winding up, so just set in ground a Dinochloa plant next to a tree. The soil should not dry out; Dinochloa prefers moist soil and does well if planted in shade or partial shade. We have a few Dinochloa plants in pots (2-4 L) available for sale, the stems 1-2.8 meters long, at 190-270 Baht each.
