Pronounced 'keen wah', Quinoa is a perfect balance of all nine essential amino acids. Free of cholesterol and trans fat, quinoa contains antioxidants , and is a source of vitamin E, calcium, potassium, iron, and magnesium and a great source of protein.

Description Gluten-free and full of nutrients quinoa is ideal for those who are health-conscious, vegetarian, or physically active, as well as for those with wheat allergies.

Also it is a popular ingredient in a raw food diet, as it can sprouted and incorporated into raw food recipes.

It has a chewy grainy texture similar to rice and couscous but is not a grain, it is a seed of a plant related to spinach and Swiss chard.

To Use Quinoa contains an outer layer called saponin for protection from birds and insects. It must be rinsed at least 2 times until the water is clear in order to remove the saponin which can have a toxic affect.
